16 and Pregnant

I will admit I watch 16 & pregnant, Teen Mom, and Teen Mom 2; but sometimes I wonder if I'm supporting something that I shouldn't be. I'm not saying these girls are bad people because of what happened to them. They are not at all, and I'm proud of the girls that chose to keep their children. Good for them for making such an adult decision.

There are a lot of women on that show that make me proud to watch it. Maci, Leah, Chelsea, Farrah, and Kailyn you are amazing mothers and women. I love watching your life ok thats kinda creepy lol and I love how real the show is. It shows that it is not easy to raise a child when you are technically still a child yourself.

I think the show busts common misconceptions that young girls might have. It shows that you might not be with your boyfriend forever, and that having a baby is not easy! I think that this is why I love the show. It doesn't make couples stay together for ratings. It shows that life isn't perfect. I watch the show or see on twitter how these women are striving to make their lives and the lives of their children the best they can. And I'm happy for them, truly.

But then I see things about them getting cosmetic surgery, going into rehab, or getting into fights and I wonder: is this what I am supporting? I think the show tries hard to make it as real as possible, but isn't having a show at all kind of glamorizing teen pregnancy? It's kinda saying "hey make your life a lot more difficult and we'll give you a show!" I don't think any of the girls on the show did that on purpose but isn't it possible that some girls might? Girls are impressionable, and some might think its glamorous to be on the show.

I'm not saying in any way that it's wrong to be a teen mom. And I do not want anyone to think that I am. I'm just worried that the show is making young girls want to be 16 & pregnant because the girls on the show are.
