Fashion on a Budget

So I'm starting to think I'm too poor to be a blogger.
For real.
Bloggers are always wearing clothes from J.Crew,
when they talk about their favorite makeup it's always M.A.C. or something other crazy expensive brand, and...they spend ridiculous amounts of money on superfluous things.

Am I the only one out here in the blog world than just looks at other's blogs and thinks "How the hell am I supposed to keep up with this?!" and "Clearly I have nothing to blog about because I didn't buy that $150 necklace or that $50 phone case." Guess what I bought my iPhone case at Walmart and it was only $20. Suckerssss.

I won't lie. I'm not stingy at all. For the most part, if I want it, I'll buy it. But somethings are just too ridiculous even for me. Instead of complaining about others I'm gonna teach you to be like me, a fashionista on a budget.

First things first, think of your wardrobe as in investment. This means you should spend your money on the basics. As much as you love those expensive cheetah print ankle booties that isn't a good investment. Instead spend the money on things and will never go out of style, like black flats. As much as you may love the booties now, they most likely won't be in style in 2 years and you'll be regretting that you ever spent so much on them.

Right now you may be saying to yourself, "But Brie I can never find fashionable things that aren't ridiculously expensive!" Ah yes young one, that is why you are here. My favorite stores to buy cute things for cheap are H&M, Forever 21, Kohl's, and Target. I love shopping at these places because they're clothes are not terribly expensive but they're a good quality.

Another good way is to give your email address for stores mailing lists. I'll be the first to admit that you'll get a lot of coupons you'll never use but you will use some of them. One of my biggest downfalls  is coupons though. You have to remember that just because you HAVE a coupon don't mean you need to USE the coupon. The same goes for sales and outlet stores. Whenever I go to the outlet mall I always feel like i NEED to buy something. I need to make a deal, but that isn't true. Don't buy something to save money if you don't want it. You might as well save the money and spend it on something expensive. At least you'll get some use out of it.

That being said, you don't need to be a stingy. If you want to shoes, buy the damn shoes! Life is too short! But if you buy the shoes don't buy the purse, belt, necklace, and scarf too.
