My weekend wasn't very eventful but I had fun. On Friday I babysat my niece and nephew. We had a lot of fun. We played outside with the dog and then played some football. I even showed how to do a touch down dance lol. That night Ken took me to Dave and Busters because we are thinking of going there for my birthday. It was really fun but very expensive. I was also surprised that there were so many little kids there! I knew it was a family place but I didn't expect to see so many young children. We wanted to eat there but it would have been a long wait. Then Ken decided to take me to Olive Garden but it was an hour long wait. So we go to Hooters, another hour long wait. Finally we go to Chipotle and share a burrito bowl. Yumm.
We also went grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I absolutely love that place, and you can get some really good food for cheap. The one thing that I think is a complete waste of money? Organic fruit. It was $2 a pound for an apple! That is crazy! I don't understand why anyone would pay that much for fruit. Especially because organic is NOT better for you than things grown with pesticides.
Ok I really went on a rant there. What I wanted to talk about is my wonderful friend Caitlin and what we worked on all Saturday.
| Me and Caitlin at our Senior Banquet. I can't believe that was almost 3 years ago! |
Her boyfriend, Charles, is graduating from the fire academy December 10th, and Caitlin wanted to give him something very special. She saw this plaque on pinterest and knew it would be perfect for him.
But it was $75! And there were some things she wanted to change. So she called me up and we decided to make it our selves. We decided to take out the 9/11 stuff (since we were 9 when it happened) and the helmet number part because he won't have a helmet number until he gets a job. So we took a trip to Hobby Lobby andh ere is what we came up with:
We made some other changes also. We decided that we should get a canvas because it'll be easier to paint on. Then we moved the Maltese (the shield looking thing) under the word fire. We also wrote his last name on the top left side. It's hard to see it all because its in white. This is all we have to far, but it took us 6 hours on Saturday to stencil all the letters on he canvas and paint them red and white. It then took her 3 hours on Sunday to paint that little bit of black on there.
I'm very excited for Caitlin to give it to him. I think it will mean so much more that she made it.
I also got this baby at Vera Bradley for a giveaway. So keep your eyes peeled!
