A Little DIY

So I bought this super cute Wall Pops Calendar from Menard's awhile ago since I like to have all my homework visible. It's just sticker that you put on the wall. I realized a little problem AFTER I bought it. The walls in my dorm aren't smooth and writing on the wall behind my desk would be a pain in the ass. So I decided to rework it a bit and make my sticker a hanging calendar. Here is what I can up with:

And here is what you'll need:

You Wall Pops Calendar, a Matte Board (Mine is 16X20 but you can get any size BIGGER than your calendar), tape measure, and a Pencil

A Ruler, an X-acto knife, and some ribbon (mine was 23 inches long)

1. First measure out your calendar and Matte board. You want the calendar to be centered. My Calendar was 13X 17 3/4 inches long and my matte board was 16X20 inches long. So I made 1 1/2 inch margins on and top and bottom and 1 1/4 inch margins on the side. Make sure you pencil in your corners on the matte board so that it will be easy to lay your calendar on down.

2. Then stick you calendar onto your matte board. I peeled the back off the sticker (calendar) only slightly then stuck my two corners onto the board

3. I then used my rulers edge to smooth down the calendar as I went so that there were not any air bubbles. Don't worry if you make a mistake, Wall Pops are made to be stuck, then taken off and restuck to different places so it'll be ok if you have to take it off the board.

4. I then penciled in my lines for the ribbon. It is important to do this because you do not want your calendar to hang crooked.

5. Then cut your slits. I left a little room so that it wouldn't be too hard to put your ribbon through. I also made my slits just a little wider than the actual ribbon.

6. Thread the ribbon through and knot it in the back on each side, erase all your pencil marks and you're done!

Ta da! I think this is super cute and is way more functional for me like this. I have a Vera Bradley desk calendar that I use now and I can't wait until January to use this one!
