The Great Dilemma

Obviously by now you’ve realized I am a graphic design major.
If you’re new around here, I’m a graphic design major.

I really love graphic design but sometimes I wonder if I would be better at another job. I know this is common for college students, but there is actually another career I have in mind.

It all started at the end of the summer when one of the moms from summer camp asked me if I was majoring in education at school. She was very surprised to hear that my major has nothing to do with teaching, and told me I would make a great teacher if I ever changed my mind.

At first, I just laughed it off, but then I started to think about how much I love being around kids. And then other people started telling me they think I would make an awesome kindergarten teacher. Things got real confusing, real fast.

At first all I could think about was how much I would love to teach kids. Now that I’m not around the kiddos and actually working on projects for my major I don’t think about it as much.

My first exhibition. This is what makes it confusing, because I was so happy at the show.

I’ve decided to stick with graphic design but sometimes I have my doubts. What if I’m not a good enough designer? What if I would make a better teacher? Maybe it’s just a confidence thing. I know I would be great as a teacher, but I don’t know how good of a designer I might be. I have chosen to take the unknown path and that is terrifying to me.
